6 Day Adventure- 

The walk, kayak and biking days of this trip are facilitated by Wilderness Guides, Picton 

The sailing days of the trip are provided by Gentle Gybe Sailing and the yacht chartered from Compass Charters. Val Griffith Jones will guide and be with you on the whole journey

Day 1, Picton-Anakiwa-Lochmara Lodge Guided walk

Distance Aprox 18 kms, 6 to 7 hours walking, easy/ moderate grade.

Transfer to Anakiwa at the western end of Queen Charlotte Sound and begin your guided walk. This section of the track takes in beautiful native forest as well as beaches and plenty of fantastic views. Learn about the history of the area as well as the flora and fauna. The destination is Lochmara Lodge Eco Retreat. Overnight here in motel style units and dine at their Restaurant.

Day 2. Lochmara Lodge-Torea Bay-Portage Hotel. Guided kayak trip

Distance depending on weather conditions and paddler ability. Aprox 4 hours on the water. 

Kayak, in double kayaks, from Lochmara Lodge this morning around sheltered bays and coves of Queen Charlotte Sound. Stop along the way for lunch and to feed the fish at Double Cove Marine Reserve. The kayak trip concludes at Torea Bay where we pick up the bikes and go over the hill to Portage Hotel. Stay the night in motel style units and enjoy a gourmet dinner in the hotel dining room.

Day 3, Portage Hotel to Punga Cove. Guided bike trip

Distance aprox  20 kms, 4 hours easy/ moderate road ride. The road is sealed as far as the Punga Saddle hill.

Using mountain bikes travel along the shore of Keneperu Sound and over the hill to Punga Cove. Stop for a picnic and enjoy the peace and quite of this sheltered sound. Join the yacht at Punga Cove mid afternoon and dine on board.

Days 4, 5 and 6 sailing on the Queen Charlotte Sound

There will be no fixed itinerary, but we will moor in sheltered bays at night and visit historic sites and places of natural interest as the weather allows and the group decides.

Be fully involved in the running of the yacht and preparing meals. Return to Waikawa Marina on the afternoon of day 6. Transfer back to Picton by 4 pm.

 

Cost: From $1550.00 per person*

Included in the cost all meals, snacks, guide, accommodation and equipment.

This trip can be arranged for groups of 2 to 6 people (POA)
